Tennessee, which has 12 baseball players from the Midstate on its roster, went 10-0 to win the Junior Sunbelt Classic for the second straight year in Oklahoma.
Tennessee defeated Arizona 7-2 in the championship on Wednesday. Columbia’s Hayden Stone was named tournament MVP pitcher and Brentwood Academy’s Will Haynie (.450, 11 RBI) was tournament MVP hitter.
Tennessee’s Bryan Reynolds, Penn Murfee and Dale Burdick made the all-tournament team.
The 10-team tournament includes some of the nation’s top juniors.
Tennessee won three consecutive one-run games prior to the championship: 8-7 over Missouri on Monday, 8-7 over Georgia on Tuesday and 9-8 over Texas on Tuesday.
