Columbia's Shaquille Mason, right, sacks Sullivan South quarterback Aaron St.Clair during the Class 4A semifinals.
Mason plays guard, offensive tackle and defensive line for Columbia, but he is projected as a guard at Georgia Tech.
“I’ve always liked them,” Mason said. “They won the ACC Championship last year.”
Mason helped lead the Lions to a runner-up showing in Class 4A last season.
“He runs well and is very athletic,” Columbia football Coach Vance Belew said. “That combination of athletic ability and size is just a rare thing. Once (Georgia Tech) saw him they really fast tracked it. He went to camp and got the offer there.”
Eight seniors from Columbia signed or will walk on this season.
